Frequently asked questions

Here are the questions we hear most often from new clients. If yours is not listed, send us a message and we will answer directly.

Do I need my own microphone for remote sessions?

Yes, but it does not need to be expensive. A USB condenser mic in the $80 to $150 range works well for most voices. We can recommend a specific model based on your room and budget. If you are recording on a laptop's built-in mic, the quality will be noticeably lower, and we will suggest an upgrade before we start.

How far in advance should I book a studio session?

A week is usually enough. During our busier months, October through December, two weeks is safer. We can sometimes accommodate same-day bookings if the room happens to be free, so it never hurts to ask.

Can you edit episodes I recorded somewhere else?

Absolutely. Send us the raw files in WAV or FLAC format. MP3 works too, though the quality ceiling is lower. We charge the same per-episode rate regardless of where the recording happened.

What if I want to cancel after a few episodes?

There is no contract to cancel. We work episode by episode. If you stop sending us recordings, we stop invoicing. Your files stay on our backup server for 90 days, and we can transfer everything to you at any time during that window.

Do you help with podcast promotion?

We handle the technical side of distribution: submitting your feed, optimizing show notes for search, and creating audiogram clips for social media. Paid advertising and influencer outreach fall outside our scope, but we can refer you to a marketing consultant who specializes in podcasts.

Getting to the studio

Our building is on Queen Spur, about a ten-minute walk from the Sherbrooke bus terminal. Street parking is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends. During business hours, there is a municipal lot one block east that charges $2 per hour. If you are driving from Montreal, the studio is roughly 90 minutes via the A-10 and Route 112.

When you arrive, ring the buzzer labelled "Objective Audios" at the front entrance. We are on the second floor. The stairwell is narrow, so if you are bringing bulky equipment, let us know in advance and we can meet you at the side door where loading is easier.
